Calgary Chamber announces 2024 AGM award winners

Calgary, April 25, 2024 – The Calgary Chamber is thrilled to announce the winners of its 2024 AGM awards. The Chamber’s success and vitality are deeply rooted in the unwavering support from our businesses, members and volunteers. It's their dedication that fuels our progress, and it's our privilege to honor them for their invaluable contributions.

"We are excited to recognize Cristina Lopez, Ian Macdonald and Käthe Lemon as important community members who have played a crucial role in promoting the Chamber's vision of advancing Calgary's business community for the benefit of all Calgarians."

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Sherrold Moore Award: Käthe Lemon

The Sherrold Moore award is bestowed upon a long-standing member whose character embodies the true essence of community, volunteerism and humble dedication exemplified by Sherrold Moore.

Käthe Lemon is the president and co-owner of RedPoint Media Group, Alberta's largest independent, locally owned media company. Prior to being named president in 2021, Käthe was the Editor of Avenue magazine for 15 years. Käthe has dedicated herself to the city of Calgary, both through her work at Avenue magazine and her volunteer roles. Currently, she holds director positions on the boards of the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association and the International Regional Magazine Association and is the chair of the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association.

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Ian Anderson Award: Cristina Lopez

The Ian Anderson award recognizes an exemplary leader who demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the Chamber by taking an active leadership role in policy, advancing advocacy priorities of our business community and helping the Chamber use its voice to help our members thrive.

Cristina has over 20 years experience in financial markets and business development. In her current role as Managing Director, Investment Banking at National Bank Financial, Cristina specializes in decarbonization and clean technology investment banking. Prior to taking on this role in 2022, she helped to develop the bank’s Sustainability Advisory and Finance practice and also served as Managing Director in the Energy Investment Banking group. Cristina is a respected advisor with extensive experience in capital markets, corporate finance and business development.

She holds two degrees from the University of Calgary—a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Arts (Spanish) and is a CFA charterholder. Cristina previously served as the chair for CFA Society Canada’s Advocacy Council.

Calgary Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year Award: Ian Macdonald

The Calgary Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award celebrates a volunteer who has given of their time and talents to help the Chamber build a thriving business community, made a difference in the community and inspired others.

Ian Macdonald is helping emerging and high growth ventures connect, collide and thrive. As Business & Innovation Leader with KPMG Canada, based from the Platform Innovation Centre, he’s helping build and support our rapidly growing tech ecosystem in Calgary and across the prairies, facilitating collisions with KPMG clients and tech scaleups and connecting startup founders to tailored services to help them grow. With 15 years in community development across Western Canada and two years growing a tech startup across the Prairies, he’s passionate about building community, growing our economy and helping businesses prosper.
