Release: Calgary-based Gradient Thermal Inc. wins $25,000 to advance affordable and efficient home heating

Calgary, AB, April 23, 2026 – Calgary-based Gradient Thermal has been awarded the 2026 ENMAX Amplifier Fund, in partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. The $25,000 grant will support the company’s efforts to modernize residential heating systems while addressing interconnected challenges, including space constraints, labour shortages, affordability and housing supply – all while contributing to a more diversified local economy.

Founded and operated in Calgary, Gradient Thermal Inc. is a clean-technology manufacturer developing residential systems that combine a furnace and water heater into a single appliance. This innovation reduces mechanical space requirements by more than half, enabling more affordable homes with increased livable space. It also simplifies installation, requiring fewer trades and helping address skilled labour shortages. In an industry largely dominated by U.S. and Asian manufacturers, Gradient delivers locally designed and manufactured solutions tailored to Canadian climates and building standards. The grant will support the company’s manufacturing expansion and enhance its competitiveness both locally and globally.

“We’re very proud to be building Gradient Thermal in Calgary, reimagining home heating to make living more efficient and affordable,” says Cameron Doepker, CEO of Gradient Thermal. “This award reflects a community that values and supports innovation and backs local businesses and talent – and that’s what makes Calgary such a powerful place to build, grow and be. We’re incredibly grateful to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce and ENMAX for their recognition and for championing the big work of small and medium-sized businesses across our city.”

“At a time when housing affordability and supply are major concerns across Canada, Gradient Thermal is developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges right here in Calgary,” says Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO at the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. “We’re proud to partner with ENMAX to support businesses like Gradient Thermal, which are helping position Calgary as a global leader in talent and manufacturing.”

“We’re excited to support innovative Calgary-based companies like Gradient Thermal that are tackling some of today’s most pressing challenges, from housing affordability to energy efficiency,” says Alexandra Frison, Director Community and Community Impact at ENMAX. “Through the ENMAX Amplifier Fund, and in partnership with the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, we’re happy to help accelerate ideas that strengthen our economy and build a more sustainable energy future.”
