Maker FAQs

Maker Membership is a Calgary Chamber of Commerce membership tailored for independent business owners, artisans and entrepreneurs who create and sell their own products. They typically work from home or online, without a physical storefront or warehouse. This membership tier gives access to the resources needed to build their business, with minimal support from the Calgary Chamber of Commerce team.

No. The Maker Membership is specifically for product- and goods-based businesses and is not available to businesses that primarily provide services.

You can refer to our brochure on the Calgary Chamber of Commerce website for a full breakdown of all of the benefits that differentiates itself from the other membership tiers.

No. The Maker Membership does not include an online marketplace or e-commerce platform for members to sell their products. Members will have a directory listing as part of their membership, but the Chamber does not facilitate transactions or operate an online store for Maker members.

No. The Maker Membership does not include a Calgary Chamber-operated physical marketplace.

Yes. If your side business is an at home or online business you can join.

The membership is $300 for a one-year term and is paid annually.

If you choose not to renew your membership for another year, access to your benefits will also expire.

You can update your contact information through the Members portal under “My Profile” and “Account” tabs.

Yes, if you are interested in a membership with more benefits or your business circumstances change, you can upgrade your membership at any time. For example, you open a physical storefront or warehouse, you can explore moving to a membership tier that better fits your business.

Yes, Member Perks can be found within your member portal. If you would like to offer a member perk, please reach out to [email protected].

You can register for events through the event page on the Calgary Chamber website by selecting “register today”. Log into your Member Portal to receive member pricing.

You can cancel your membership through the members portal or by reaching out to [email protected].

No. The Maker Membership does not include access to a dedicated Membership Advisor. If you are unable to find the answer to your questions in the member portal or our website, please reach out to [email protected].

No. Event credits are not included with the Maker Membership.

Log into your member portal and navigate to the “Account” tab. Upload a photo of your products to best showcase your business on our directory.

Yes. If you upgrade your membership but still fall within the Maker requirements, you will remain on our maker directory. Please contact [email protected] to explore other membership opportunities.
