Powering Calgary’s small business success with Rogers Business

Walk down any Calgary street and you’ll see it. Small businesses are everywhere, fueling our city’s energy, ideas and community spirit. From cozy cafes to growing tech firms, these entrepreneurs are the ones making Calgary thrive. But behind every successful business is something just as important as passion and grit: the right support.

That’s where Rogers Business comes in. More than a service provider, they’ve become a partner and trusted teammate to the small businesses shaping our city’s future.

That commitment is reflected in the leadership of Dale Turner, Senior Vice President of Product and Revenue at Rogers Business. Passionate about ensuring small businesses in Calgary have the tools, resources and partnerships they need to thrive, Dale shares that there’s been tremendous growth for Rogers within Calgary, allowing them the opportunity to provide impactful services for local businesses.

As the presenting sponsor of the Calgary Chamber’s Small Business Week and a supporter of our Business After Hours event series, Rogers Business has played a key role in supporting Calgary’s small business community, but for Dale, it is not just about visibility. It’s about building meaningful connections.

“This is our second year as the Small Business Pillar Partner,” says Dale. “We’ve been big supporters of small businesses. Our biggest concentration of small business salespeople across the country are here in Calgary, so we’re able to meet with those customers at Calgary Chamber events.”

Trusted advisors with tools for growth

If you’ve ever grabbed a bite at a Concorde Group restaurant or spent a night out at one of their venues, you’ve seen firsthand how small businesses shape Calgary’s culture. Behind the scenes, Dale explains that Rogers Business has been part of that story for nearly a decade.

“We’ve provided them with dedicated Internet and managed WiFi. Our goal has been to bring the capability of technology, usually only accessible to larger businesses, to our small business customers. To be a good partner we need to stay focused on helping them manage and grow successfully.”

That kind of long-term partnership is exactly what Rogers Business strives for. As presenting sponsor of Small Business Week, Dale shares the importance of Rogers Business’ presence in the community and walking alongside these businesses at every stage of growth.

“We understand the difference between a service provider and a partner. And that’s what we have set out to be, a trusted partner for small businesses. As they start or grow, we have the tools to help them without requiring huge upfront capital. We can provide services on a monthly basis so our services can scale as they grow.”

Innovation for resilience and the future

Innovation is another way Rogers Business is helping small businesses stay resilient in a fast-changing market. Dale highlights their “Advantage Suite,” which includes WiFi and cybersecurity solutions.

“We have Advantage WiFi and Advantage Security, including cybersecurity to protect businesses. We also sell Microsoft products, so it’s really a one-stop shop for businesses. Rogers Business was the first global provider to launch Microsoft Teams Phone mobile and first Canadian provider to launch Operator Connect.”

Rogers continues to innovate with its network and was recently first to launch satellite-to-mobile.

“If you’ve seen the commercials for satellite to mobile, this is another new service,” says Dale. “Think of technicians or other team members working in areas without cellular coverage—now they’ll have satellite capability. Today it’s text only, but over time it will expand to support apps, data and voice services. For businesses with employees working in the field, it’s a safety net to ensure they’re taken care of.”

Beyond providing technology and services, Rogers Business finds real value comes from collaboration and shared growth with the community. He explains that the partnership between Rogers Business and the Chamber reflects the same principles that guide how they work with small businesses every day.

“Rogers Business and the Chamber are better together. We’ve been able to attend Chamber events, meet small business owners and operators. It’s an opportunity to learn from them directly and bring that learning back to the organization. And it’s an opportunity for us to show them how our services support their continued growth.”
