Calgary, August 12, 2021 – The Calgary Chamber invites Calgarians to submit nominations for their favourite small businesses by Friday, August 13th, 2021.
“Small businesses are the driving force behind Calgary’s economic activity, accounting for 95 per cent of local businesses,” says Deborah Yedlin, CEO of the Calgary Chamber. “The Calgary Chamber’s Small Business Awards shine a spotlight on the small but mighty organizations that power our local economy, create jobs, and generate tremendous economic opportunity in our city.”
Nominations can be submitted for any of the following eight categories, including:
“While many of us naturally think of mom-and-pop shops, small businesses in Calgary operate across a wide array of sectors, are one of the largest sources of private sector employment and are present in every quadrant of our city. They reflect Calgary’s diversity, while displaying the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation our city is known for,” says Yedlin.
Nominations are reviewed by a panel of judges and award winners will be announced on October 22nd as a closing event of the Calgary Chamber’s Small Business Week.
“Calgary’s small businesses have flexed their muscles and shown collaboration, endurance, flexibility and resilience these past months,” says Yedlin. “Now, it’s time for Calgarians to show their appreciation by nominating their favourite businesses for a Calgary Chamber Small Business Award.”
