The Calgary Chamber invites current members in good standing to apply to become a Member at Large for a two-year term on one of four Chamber Board Committees:
- Finance, Audit, Investment and Risk Committee (“FAIR”) – one available seat
- Government Relations Committee – up to four available seats
- Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (“IDEA”) – up to three available seats
- Nominating Sub-Committee – one available seat
The Calgary Chamber embraces inclusivity and diversity as key success factors for the Board and its Committees. It is the Calgary Chamber’s intention to have a balanced and diverse Board of Directors and Committees representative of Calgary’s business community.
As a Member at Large, you play a role in supporting the Board through your participation on a Committee due to the specialized knowledge and in-depth professional expertise you bring that complements the committees’ mandates, which are:
The FAIR Committee is responsible for providing oversight and guidance on the Chamber’s finances and investments, assist management with identifying and prioritizing business risks, and recommend the appointment of auditors.
The Government Relations Committee provides non-partisan, strategic guidance to the Board of Directors and management on matters pertaining to the Chamber’s governmental relations and public affairs.
The IDEA Sub-Committee reports to the Governance & Human Resources (“GHR”) Committee and provides non-partisan, strategic guidance to the Board of Directors and management on matters pertaining to the Chamber’s inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility initiatives
The Nominating Sub-Committee reports to the Governance & Human Resources (“GHR”) Committee and is responsible for reviewing Board of Director applications and recommend applicants to be presented to the Chamber members to elect nominated candidates for open board positions.
Member at Large selection is a competitive process, and applications will be accepted between June 29 and July 26, 2026. Members may only apply to one committee.
