From managing today to shaping tomorrow.
As your leadership responsibilities grow, success often depends less on how much you can accomplish yourself and more on your ability to step back, see the bigger picture and make decisions that move your organization forward. That shift from managing the immediate to thinking more strategically can be challenging.
The demands of day-to-day leadership are immediate. Strategic thinking requires space to look beyond the task at hand, connect seemingly unrelated issues and make decisions with the longer term in mind.
What does strategic leadership look like in practice?
Strategic leaders are often required to:
- See beyond their function
- Make decisions amid complexity
- Move from solving problems to creating direction
- Lead through change
- Keep developing themselves
Leadership development is most valuable when you can apply it immediately
This principle is at the heart of Haskayne’s Strategic Leadership Development Program (SLDP). This program connects leadership development and strategic thinking with the realities leaders face in their organizations. Learning is deliberately spaced to give participants time to explore new concepts, apply tools in their work, reflect on the experience and return to the conversation with new perspectives.
An Action Learning Project provides the opportunity to apply the learning to a real organizational challenge, while a Personal Leadership Development Plan creates a framework for ongoing development.
The result is not simply a collection of leadership concepts. It is an opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, challenge your thinking, and consider how you can lead with greater impact.
A space to think differently about leadership
The next SLDP cohort begins November 2026 and runs through July 2027.
Delivered online, the program combines live, interactive workshops with self-directed learning, mentoring and applied projects, giving you the opportunity to learn, reflect, and put new approaches into practice while continuing to lead in your organization.
If you are considering your next stage of leadership development, explore whether SLDP could support where you want to go next.
