Keyera & Calgary Chamber invest in Indigenous economic inclusion through new partnership

Keyera joins the Calgary Chamber as the new Truth and Reconciliation Pillar Partner to support Indigenous entrepreneurs.

Calgary, AB, April 17, 2025 – The Calgary Chamber of Commerce is honoured to announce a new partnership with Keyera as the organization joins as the Chamber’s Truth and Reconciliation Pillar Partner. This transformative and purpose-driven partnership will help advance opportunities for Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses and foster economic reconciliation across the business community.

“We’re honoured to welcome Keyera as the Calgary Chamber’s Truth and Reconciliation Pillar Partner. This partnership reflects our shared belief that Indigenous businesses are essential to the fabric of Canada’s economy and that real progress requires real partnership and action,” says Deborah Yedlin, President & CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. “At the Chamber, we recognize that reconciliation is a journey – that includes all of us. Supporting Indigenous entrepreneurs is a vital part of that work — facilitating access to the opportunities, resources and networks needed to grow and thrive.”

Through events, workshops and thought leadership, and by working with entrepreneurs to address systemic barriers, the Chamber and Keyera are partnering to support Indigenous business owners and entrepreneurs within and around the Treaty 7 region and beyond. Through this partnership, Keyera will also sponsor 25 Chamber memberships for Indigenous entrepreneurs, helping eliminate cost-related barriers to Calgary’s largest business network.

“Keyera is committed to walking the path of Reconciliation in collaboration with Indigenous Peoples,” says Christy Elliott, Senior Vice President, Sustainability, External Affairs & General Counsel at Keyera. “Our partnership with the Calgary Chamber reflects a shared commitment to removing barriers, fostering meaningful collaboration, and intentionally making space for Indigenous businesses to lead, grow, and succeed. It’s one of the ways we’re contributing to a business community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Parallel to this partnership, the Calgary Chamber shares our Truth and Economic Reconciliation Framework, developed alongside our Indigenous Advisory Circle, which is comprised of over 25 Elders, entrepreneurs and community leaders. This framework will guide the Chamber through our journey of truth and reconciliation and serves as a public commitment to our efforts. The framework is grounded in truth and learning, and is focused on two key priorities:

1. Ensuring the Chamber and key business resources are more accessible to Indigenous entrepreneurs by identifying and removing barriers.

2. Using our platform to amplify Indigenous voices and advocate for systemic change, including through government policy, to support economic participation and success of Indigenous entrepreneurs and professionals.

Our Truth and Economic Reconciliation Framework can be found here.
