Nominations now open for Calgary Small Business Awards

Local Laundry receives Calgary Small Business Award in 2021

Calgary, May 31, 2022 – Nominations for the Calgary Small Business Awards are now open. The Calgary Chamber invites submissions across eight award categories by Friday August 19th, 2022.

"Calgary's economy is underpinned by its small businesses, which bring jobs, products, services and vibrancy to our city. They also provide an important element of stability to the economy, as they serve many difference sectors,” says Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. “These awards celebrate entrepreneurs who see opportunity, take risks and work to make their business ideas become reality."

Nominations can be submitted for any of the following eight categories, including:

“Winning a Calgary Small Business Award was welcome recognition of what it takes to start and grow a business,” says Local Laundry’s Chief Laundry Folder, Connor Curran, winner of the 2021 CPA Alberta Social Entrepreneurship Award. “It was a pivotal moment for our company, raising awareness of Local Laundry that spurred new networks and partnerships and propelled us through some of the toughest times of the pandemic.”

Nominations are reviewed by a panel of judges and award winners will be announced at the Small Business Awards Gala on October 21st as a signature event of the Calgary Chamber’s Small Business Week.

“Nominating is an easy and free way to support local, especially for small businesses that often rely on promotion and word of mouth to drive sales and bring customers through their doors,” says Yedlin. “With economic recovery top-of-mind, it’s an ideal time for Calgarians to show their appreciation for businesses that do so much to make our city a great place to live and work. We encourage all Calgarians with a favourite local small business, to submit their nomination for a Calgary Small Business Award.”
