Calgary Chamber President and CEO Deborah Yedlin focused on Calgary’s potential, pandemic recovery and collaboration

The following statement is attributable to Deborah Yedlin as she officially joins the Calgary Chamber of Commerce as President and CEO:

Calgary, July 5, 2021 – “I am excited to join the Calgary Chamber at a critical moment for our city and business community. My vision is to help build and share Calgary's story as a leader in innovation and economic diversification. This will require close collaboration between business, community, governments and institutes of higher education.

“Through my experience on Wall Street and Bay Street, along with over 20 years reporting and commentating on business issues, I’ve come to know Calgary as a city that is innovative, resilient and works together to tackle challenging and important issues. In order to position Calgary for a promising future that is both prosperous and inclusive, we must focus on investing in the qualities that make Calgary a great place to live, work and play.”

“For 130 years, the Calgary Chamber has supported businesses small and large, and we will continue do so with the needs of our diverse and growing community in mind. The pandemic has exposed barriers faced by many members of our community. We are aware of the challenges faced by Indigenous peoples as they seek collective action on healing and reconciliation and are equally mindful of difficulties encountered by racialized and marginalized communities. Now is the time to chart an inclusive path forward as we move toward economic recovery and growth.

“As we recover from the pandemic and move toward election season, we will be focused on listening to businesses and bringing forward the issues that matter most to them. I look forward to working closely with our members, all levels of government and other partners to ensure the voice of Calgary’s business community is loud and clear.”
