The following statement is attributable to Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce:
Calgary, August 13, 2021 – “Businesses are concerned about waning consumer confidence and increased uncertainty and instability linked to considerations to scale back pandemic response measures. Our business community has told us vaccine certification and continuation of testing, tracing and isolation requirements would help keep them, employees, and customers safe, and help prevent further lockdowns.
“To avoid patchwork measures across jurisdictions and economic risks introduced by a lack of clarity and consistency, we need governments to collaborate on a consistent and unified solution. Now, together with continued testing, tracing, and isolation measures, working with business on the development and implementation of vaccine certification will be critical to ensure it is simple and accessible for businesses and does not add barriers to doing business.
“As we move toward recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we need measures that support a permanent and safe reopening. Vaccination rates continue to be critical. We encourage all eligible Calgarians to be fully vaccinated as soon as possible so we can return to the experiences and quality of life we’ve all missed, for good.”
