TransMountain Pipeline Challenges Proceeding

CALGARY – The Federal Court of Appeal has allowed six of the twelve Trans Mountain Pipeline (TMX) challenges to proceed.

“This is another step in the process of getting the Trans Mountain pipeline built, the Chamber respects the rule of law and is looking forward to seeing this appeal be completed.” says Sandip Lalli, Calgary Chamber President and CEO. “We are currently in a state where Canadians and industry need certainty and we encourage governments to create legislation and regulations that build business certainty. Canada has an abundance of natural resources and we must continue to work towards getting these resources to market.”

Getting Canada’s resources to market will help benefit the Canadian economy. TMX is another important project that will export Canada’s natural resources to global markets. The Calgary Chamber is hosting Canadians from coast to coast on October 2, 2019 for a Natural Resources Summit. This summit will bring together industry leaders and politicians from across the country to have meaningful conversations about how Canada has the potential to be both a leader in development of natural resources and be a leader and innovator in the global climate change fight.
