Calgary, Alberta, January 24, 2022 – The Calgary Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to recognize President and CEO Deborah Yedlin on being awarded the Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal.
As an investment banker-gone-journalist, and now an advocate for business, Deborah Yedlin has made significant contributions to Calgary’s business community. She continues to invest in her community, presently serving as a co-chair of the Calgary Cancer Hospital and having served on several boards including United Way Calgary, YMCA Calgary, Calgary Opera, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Glenbow Museum Society and WinSport.
"I have always believed in the importance of giving back to the community – in whatever way possible – and I appreciate all the opportunities I've had, since moving to Calgary in 1992," says Deborah Yedlin, President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce. "It goes back to how I was raised – being taught that we had to do our own part to fix what is broken in the world and leave it better than how we found it."

Deborah Yedlin joined the Calgary Chamber of Commerce in July 2021 with a background that includes experience on Wall Street and Bay Street, and more than two decades as a business columnist for various media outlets, commenting on the nexus of business and politics since 1996.
Since moving to Calgary in 1992, Yedlin has been very active in the Calgary community - as a board member on a number of not-for-profit organizations including serving as the co-chair of the 2016 United Way Campaign. Yedlin served as the 14th Chancellor of the University of Calgary and is currently one of three co-chairs of the $250 million Calgary Cancer Centre fundraising campaign.
A first-generation Canadian, born and raised in Edmonton, Deborah is a graduate of the University of Alberta and Queen’s University. She also completed her ICD.D designation through the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee medal recognizes the significant contributions of Albertans as a symbolic recognition of Her Majesty’s 70th anniversary.
