The 2021 municipal election presents a transformative opportunity to determine Calgary’s future. Despite several years of economic headwinds and the COVID-19 pandemic, we know our city and business community have tremendous potential and a path ahead to get there.

Reaching our potential demands strong and thoughtful public policy backed by collaboration, innovation and determination. The 18 recommendations we outline across five pathways illustrate a path forward: a guide for our next City Council to ensure we, as a city, achieve what is possible – a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous Calgary.

Choosing Our Path

On October 18, Calgarians will decide the path ahead. Pathways to Potential represents a way forward, beyond the challenges of the pandemic, to find renewed strength in the things that make Calgary the choice for business – and citizens – to live, work, and play.

With 5 pathways and 18 recommendations we are advocating for policy that:

Enables certainty and stability for businesses to facilitate investment and economic growth.

Incorporates principles of inclusive growth as elements along the path to expanding our economy by increasing our labour force participation rate with specific consideration for historically marginalized, excluded, and underrepresented groups.

Encourages collaboration between all orders of government and leverage the tools available to each level of government to realize full potential for economic growth.
