2021 Municipal Election Platform
The 2021 municipal election presents a transformative opportunity to determine Calgary’s future. Despite several years of economic headwinds and the COVID-19 pandemic, we know our city and business community have tremendous potential and a path ahead to get there.
Reaching our potential demands strong and thoughtful public policy backed by collaboration, innovation and determination. The 18 recommendations we outline across five pathways illustrate a path forward: a guide for our next City Council to ensure we, as a city, achieve what is possible – a vibrant, inclusive, and prosperous Calgary.
We envision a vibrant Calgary that develops, retains, and attracts talent from all walks of life, enabling our city and our people to have the skills needed to thrive in the economy of today and tomorrow.
Calgary should be a competitive and stable place to do business, supported by fair and equitable contributions from residents and businesses to support service delivery and community well-being.
Our vision is that the heart of Calgary’s incredible community is a vibrant downtown – a place for all Calgarians to come together, and where we choose to live, work, and play.
Our vision is a city and economy that is inclusive, safe, and provides opportunity for everyone, particularly those economically or socially marginalized.
We need to make it simple and straightforward to start, scale-up, and grow a business in Calgary. We also need an ecosystem that facilitates business-to-business and business-to-consumer connections and collaborations.
On October 18, Calgarians will decide the path ahead. Pathways to Potential represents a way forward, beyond the challenges of the pandemic, to find renewed strength in the things that make Calgary the choice for business – and citizens – to live, work, and play.
